Valetta, the European Union’s smallest capital city, packs a punch. Hugely walkable, at less than a kilometre square, it is packed with history to the point that it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Finally, we see the Second World War through the eyes of Albert’s stepson, Knud Erik, a captain in the British Navy.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I especially miss Brussels during the festive season, so we’ve been trying to replicate some of the fun of the Christmas markets with trips to our local National Trust houses to see their Christmas decorations. There’s less mulled wine on offer (i.e. none), but the decorations are all so lovely and varied.
Scotney Castle is a National Trust property tucked inside the Kent border with East Sussex, close to Bewl Water reservoir and the pretty village of Lamberhurst. It’s also probably my favourite National Trust property due to the variety of things to explore.
